The annual photo exhibition «Arctic Attraction» has opened on Tverskoy Boulevard in Moscow. The photo exhibition has been organised by Rosneft Oil Company together with a non-governmental development institute Innopraktika.

The exhibition includes unique footage from the atlas «The Russian Arctic. Space. Time. Resources» (a joint project of Rosneft and Innopraktika), photographs from Rosneft research expeditions, and images of the Company's facilities. Residents and visitors of the capital will be able to see icy landscapes, large-scale polar explorations, the unique beauty of the Arctic and its amazing inhabitants, many of which are listed in the Red Book. The exhibition is on display until January 30.

Rosneft is implementing a comprehensive scientific research programme in the Arctic region. Rosneft has carried more than 30 expeditions in five Arctic seas since 2012 and gathered a one-of-a-kind body of information on the Arctic region. Geological, oceanological, hydrometeorological and environmental studies are carried out in cooperation with the nation's leading research organisations.

In autumn 2020, the Company conducted scientific stratigraphic drilling in the Kara Sea, the first-ever in the history of continental shelf research. In 2021 and 2022, Rosneft continued research in the Laptev Sea and Chukchi Sea. The extracted core is examined by Innopraktika specialists at the Geology Department of Lomonosov Moscow State University. These studies are of great importance for understanding the geological structure of the Russian Arctic. In 2022, the stratigraphic drilling project was awarded the diploma of the winner of the International Competition of Scientific, Technical and Innovative Designs for the Development and Exploitation of the Continental Shelf.

Rosneft and Russian Arctic National Park jointly implemented the Clean Arctic project, which goal was to study the impact of economic activities during the Soviet era on the Arctic ecosystems. This was the first time such a programme had been implemented in Russia.

The results of many years of research on the Russian North are presented in the environmental atlases «Kara Sea», «Laptev Sea», «Marine Mammals of the Russian Arctic and the Far East», «Barents Sea», «Species - Biological Indicators of Arctic Marine Ecosystems». This year, the Company co-published with Innopraktika a book called «Rediscovering the Arctic», dedicated to the results of 10 years of expeditions and scientific research in the Arctic zone.
